A Remembrance

For years during the service, I have sat to the right of the altar and wondered about the dedication that is inscribed on it.  While I was at an historical museum meeting yesterday the conversation drifted to a man named Edward A. Temple.  Frank Meyers reminded me that his name is inscribed on the St. Andrew's altar dedicating it in loving memory of his wife Elizabeth.

Edward Temple was a big deal back in his day.  He founded Banker's Life which in 1985 became Principal Group, a Fortune 500 company with home offices in Des Moines.  He is buried in the Chariton Cemetery along with his wife, Elizabeth and their child.

There have been so many people who have come and gone at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.  I invite you to be one of them.  We meet on Sundays at 10 A.M. for Holy Eucharist.  Bible study is Tuesday's at 10:30 and we have evening prayer on Wednesdays at 5:30.  You will truly be welcome!

Peace,
Fr. Fred
