Food for Fines

I serve on our local library board and for the last several years we have had a food for fines program in place during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.  Here is how it goes.  If you have a book that is overdue, even way overdue, you can bring it back and in place of paying a fine you can donate food to the food basket at the library.  The library gets its book back and the food you donated is given to the local food pantry.  This year the library collected three good sized boxes of food.

This afternoon the Mormon elders and I collected the boxes and took them to the pantry.  It was pretty obvious that the pantry is running low on food.  The elders and I are working at the pantry this Friday.  I hope and pray there is enough food.

Blessings,
Deacon Fred
