Pastor Gates from First Lutheran and I met today to put together the service for Maundy Thursday. It will be held at St. Andrews at 7 PM. I am really looking forward to the service. We have the washing of feet at this service. Our church will be full and the singing will be glorious.
I believe the term Maundy comes from the Latin "mandatum" which means mandate or commandment. This references Jesus statement at the last supper when he said, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another as I have loved you." It is such a powerful statement and really says it all.
